NMDWS hosts event to expand workforce outreach

01/30/2025

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) hosted an event in Albuquerque on Thurs., January 30 bringing together Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) to strengthen partnerships and enhance outreach for Unemployment Insurance and re-employment services.

The event, Connecting You: Engaging NMDWS Services for Effective Client Support, highlighted efforts to bridge gaps in awareness and access to critical workforce services, bolstered by a $2.8 million Navigator Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor under the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

“Governor Lujan Grisham’s administration is committed to making sure that every New Mexican can access the resources they need to succeed in today’s workforce,” said NMDWS Cabinet Secretary Sarita Nair. “Partnering with community-based organizations allows us to meet individuals where they are and ensure access to both unemployment benefits and re-employment services.”

This event is the first in a series of statewide gatherings designed to:

Partner with CBOs to reach individuals who may not know how to access Unemployment Insurance and workforce services programs.

Provide outreach and education to ensure New Mexicans understand their eligibility and how to apply for UI benefits.

Connect individuals looking for work with employment services including career counseling, skills training, and job placement assistance.

CBOs interested in partnering with NMDWS or who have questions or need more information regarding services may complete a brief request form on the NMDWS website https://www.dws.state.nm.us/ConnectingYou. NMDWS will work with each organization to tailor services to the unique needs of their participants.
